I was at the Jason Mraz concert tonight and you were not. So there! Well, you were there, but the rest of you slackers missed out.

The concert was, in a word, outstanding. To use a cheesy and obvious reference to his music, it was the "remedy" for my downtrodden state I've found myself in lately. The guy really can sing, and as Schoonie noted, he sounded almost exactly like he does in the album, which gets him many points in my book. I had one of those moments of zen at this show, right in the middle of a great jam during "On Love, In Sadness." I think that's the sign of a true performer, when they are able to make an audience member forget about all the shit outside for just that brief moment. It was incredibly cleansing for me.

*Personal note to Lyss: In between songs, he busted out with the old McDonald's "Big Mac, McD.L.T., a Quarter Pounder with some cheese, a filet of fish, a hamburger, a cheeseburger, a Happy Meal..." rap. And you missed it. La. :-)

So, especially considering the concert was free, it was an incredible experience. Jason Mraz is definitely Good Special!

Just a little anecdote that will probably only be funny to me. In all my time at UK, I had never stepped inside Memorial Hall. How sad is it that the first time I see the inside of the university's trademark building is at a concert a year and a half after I graduate? I friggin' rule.

Now, I go to the shower to sing my lungs out and get some of the post-performance giddiness out of my system!
