Friday, Apr. 11, 2003 - 8:56 a.m. Due to a lack of interesting tidbits to write about, I'm writing my first Friday Five entry. Here goes... 1. What was the first band you saw in concert? Dave Matthews Band, in November of 1998. My buddy Marcus and I drove to Lexington for the show, had nosebleed seats in the upper level of Rupp Arena, and got so high off secondhand pot smoke that we raided the Speedway mart's supply of Hostess cupcakes on the way home. My car smelled for a week afterward. 2. Who is your favorite artist/band now? At this very moment, it's a tie between John Mayer and Jason Mraz. John Mayer because his songs have always been very meaningful to me, and Jason Mraz because in the last two weeks about six people have raved about him to me. Being the eternal lemming, I downloaded pretty much his whole catalog and am quite impressed. 3. What's your favorite song? Again, a tie: John Mayer's "Something's Missing" and Jason Mraz's "Better." 4. If you could play any instrument, what would it be? I already sort of play the guitar, but I really need to sit down and teach myself to play it, rather than strumming random chords. 5. If you could meet any musical icon (past or present), who would it be and why? The lead singer from Flock of Seagulls. I just want to know what he used to get his hair to look like that. A big shout-out goes out to Kinetix for sending me a phat "thanks for the Pocky/feel better" package. I now have two great N-Sync mix cd's, a copy of The Action Hero's Handbook, and enough Starburst candy to feed Rwanda. Thanks! Seven hours till the weekend. Woohoo!
