Friday, Feb. 14, 2003 - 9:23 a.m. Today marks the culmination of months of preparation at work, the annual doctoral student interview day. I have worked for about three weeks to coordinate getting roughly fifty students transported to campus and arrange an entire day's worth of activities while they are being interviewed for a spot in our PhD programs. It really is something of a festival atmosphere around here, albeit a festival where everybody is wearing suits. Yesterday was, as expected, one of the most stressful days. Last minute preparations and a horde of confused students swarming all around my desk made me wish I could just go home and curl up with a good book. Sadly, that wasn't to be, as I had to drive to play rehearsal, which kept me out of the apartment until about nine o'clock last night. But all was well, as Josh popped up online asking me if he could call, which I enthusiastically insisted upon. From the time my phone rang, I felt complete relaxation for hours. I was so relaxed that at one point, I almost drifted off just listening to his voice. It was a good feeling. So, even with just five hours of sleep behind me, I feel completely rested and rejuvenated. Thank you. Happy Valentine's Day.
