Have you ever had one of those absolutely incredible nights of sleep? When you plan on getting eight hours and actually get to sleep for eight hours? When you don't even remember waking up at all during the night? When you vaguely remember hearing a Fight Club-esque brawl in the alley next to your living room at some point but couldn't care less?

Well, I did and it was everything I dreamed it could be. I slept like a baby. (Though I've never been a fan of that expression. My limited experience of babies have taught me that they don't sleep all that well, at least for extended periods of time) And even though it was as cold as a meat locker when I went to bed, the radiators had kicked on at some point in the night to give me a toasty warm bedroom to wake up to this morning.

I do remember hearing the radiators kick on, now that I think about it. That is really the most relaxing sound, hearing the soft crackling as the steam enters the expanding pipes.

I think it's good that I find myself in this zen-like mindset this morning. If the stack of applications towering ever-so-precariously next to my computer monitor are any indication, I'll need to think on a higher plane of existence to get through the day.

I'm armed with my casual Friday jeans, a bottle of water, and a (temporarily) clear head. Time to go into the trenches!
