Thursday, Jan. 09, 2003 - 2:50 p.m. For once, I'm having a fulfilling and productive day at the office. I've processed over thirty student applications, sent out about a dozen new applications, answered many questions on the phone, kept up with my email assignments, went home for lunch to pay my phone bill, eat, and do my dishes, and I'm finally caught up on everything. I have weekend plans and nothing particular to do tomorrow night other than rest. For the first time in a long while, there's nothing really bothering or nagging at me. The weather outside is beautiful and my car is clean with over a half tank of gas. The last time I had a day like this, it was roughly a year and a half ago and the following evening went something like this: the front passenger side wheel fell off the old car downtown. Miraculously, no damage was done. It seems that two days prior as I was getting a rotate and balance, the mechanic didn't tighten the nuts appropriately. Lovely. I managed to get the wheel back on and proceeded on my merry way an hour later. Then I ran out of gas, prompting me to walk to the nearest gas station to plead with them to let me use a spare gas can to put a gallon in my car. Then I got back to my dorm room to an answering machine message of mom sobbing uncontrollably. I called back and she said nothing was wrong. So, I ask you, what will go wrong today? I love being a pessimist sometimes.
